The Ninth Annual Lois Stobbs Memorial Veterans 10K Run/Walk is a USA Track & Field sanctioned race in Wheeling, West Virginia. The course is the last 6.2 miles of the Ogden Newspapers 20K course. It begins at Bridge Street Middle School, travels along National Road until the top of Wheeling Hill, and finishes at WesBanco Arena in downtown Wheeling.
Hugh Stobbs, the race director, was encouraged by his late wife, Lois, to give back to the veterans and to the Wheeling community. Thus, he decided to start a race around Veterans Day in honor of past and current military personnel.
All veterans and military personnel have their entry fee waived, receive a t-shirt, a free banquet ticket, and are assigned a special red, white, and blue number to distinguish them from other participants. Monies received over and above race expenses will be donated to WVa Chapter Paralyzed Veterans of America. As of June 15, $74,000 has been donated to PVA.
